Here’s an article and photo essay on Jazz Times about the Provincetown Jazz Festival.  I has planned on attending as a spectator which I did Friday night, but when I walked in on Saturday, Bart Weisman hit me up to play onstage for one of the encores with Paul Sanchez and the gang.  What a treat and honor.  Here’s a link to the web page:

Sunday I had a great time at Bart’s Jam Session in Hyannis followed by an amazing show in Wellfleet with Zoe Lewis, Roxanne Layton, Sylvie Richard and Carl on bass.  Plus this talentd kid named Ben who sat in on harmonica.

Monday I played with Zoe Lewis at the Arthouse and then we both ran down to sit in with John DeMaci for a good old fashioned jazz jam.  I have videos of that night that I will post eventually.

Wed night I unveiled the World Premire of Butch Van Dyke at a Drag In competition hosted by Jennie McNulty and Mimi Gonzalez and got second place performing my solo version of Lush Life by billy Strayhorn.

All in all an amazing “vacation”!!!!  Thanks to all my friends and fans out there who made it out to catch a show.

It’s almost time for me to head east to Provincetown for a little East Coast action.

I’m really excited to be there for Bart Wiseman’s Provincetown Jazz Festival August 13-14th.  Paul Sanchez is performing on Saturday night.  He’s from New Orleans and the brother of John Sanchez who taught me in Star of Indiana back in 1985.  The festival will be raising some money to help out some of the musicians in New Orleans, so come on out and support a good cause and catch some good music.

Speaking of Star of Indiana – an alumni corps will be performing at DCI Semi’s Friday night in Indianapolis.  Obviously, I’m not going to be there.  I decided a year and a half ago that it was time to move on from drum corps and specifically my Star of Indiana experience.  And I have.  While part of me wishes I could at least be there to see the performance and some old friends, the other part is glad that I didn’t decide to take on a project that would involve playing the same music for a year and a half on an instrument that I don’t usually perform on.

Instead I have focused on trombone and you can hear the fruits of my labor this next week in Provincetown if you are in the area!!!
